X4704 RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}1/MA.14.5.34. VULTURE GEARBOX. In view of the failure of the 3rd speed gears in this box we should like to try 10 DP 25º obliquity gears to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1393 for all the helical gears. At the same time we think the sideshaft would be better supported in the middle by a roller bearing. We suggest trying a bearing to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1397. This bearing will require .010 to .012 end float to allow for expansion of the box. The bearing above this on the 3 rd motion shaft would benefit by similar treatment. Will you please fit these modifications to this gear box and at the same time the 2nd speed 8º serve thread cones. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} | ||
