DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} } FROM R.{Sir Henry Royce} HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} } (At Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence.) X5380. R1/M28.1.32. Sent from WW. 1.2.32. Copy to - SC. WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} X. 5380 J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} 3. FRAME - TUBULAR CROSS MEMBER. This one, with flanges forged solid on the tube, looks extremely good and light, and if makeable, should be very much less costly. I should attempt to produce this all square as a straight tube, and when it is finished set the ends to the required angle in a special rig, with or without heat, but making rather a short bend at the point where the cone joins the parallel.
