re Springs.

With reference to the testing of springs in France, it is practically impossible for us to state what cars will or what cars will not be used in France.

Therefore, it would be wrong to fit to any cars springs which would break under French road conditions.

For this reason we are anxious to find out whether the 12½% springs will break under French conditions.

If they do not break, then we should have no hesitation in fitting them, to all cars.

If they do break, we ought not to do so.

Then we want to have information as to whether the 20% springs will stand up under French conditions.

Therefore, it would appear that the proposal made in the last paragraph of Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}'s memo. to you would be a sound one.

CJ.
