Mr. Hives considers this to be a distinct improvement on the existing type. They are less costly to produce, they do not interfere with interchangeability and I think should be standardised, even on the present test and this test will be confirmed by the new 100 hour test which [handwritten insertion: we hope] will be started up in a few days and therefore before the improvement is adopted the present test will be confirmed. Mr. Hives recommends that the taper plugs in the end should should have a draw of from .015 to .030" and that the ball bearing should be pressed on .0005" tight.
