BC/190 Dear Sirs, We are in receipt of your favour of the 12th inst, & in reply beg to state that our Whittle Belting is fitted with raw hide centres from the 3/8" size upwards. The object of this raw hide is to take the greater share of the load, & prevent the belt from stretching unduly as the raw hide has a much greater tensile strength than leather. The smaller size belts are not usually fitted with raw hide as there is no advantage gained by the insertion of it. We have fitted the 3/8" size with raw hide when requested by special customers but we do not recommend it over our Standard Pattern as the breaking strain is not increased. Any further information we shall be pleased to give you. Yours f'fully, Thomas Whittle & Sons, Ltd. (Sgd). A. {Mr Adams} Thorden original sent off 15/11/10 | ||
