1029 (Experimental Dept.) Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AFM{Anthony F. Martindale}8/R.{Sir Henry Royce} 6th April, 1939. New Hudson Ltd., Icknield Street, BIRMINGHAM. 18. (For the attention of Mr. Fraser.) Dear Sirs, During the Writer's absence you have altered your standard expander unit plungers, and asked us to accept them instead of the special ones which give greater travel. Will you please send us a sample expander unit complete so that we can see if it will do. It is easy to misread the drawings in this case owing to the cone angles. You have asked Mr. Leslie for a set of our special taps for aluminium. We have passed this order to the tool people concerned, but we would be obliged if you would send us a broken or worn out tap from your machine so that we can make sure the shank is correct. It would be a pity to despatch taps that would not fit your machine. Will you please send us a print of your drawing GB.3546, so as to complete our files. Yours faithfully, For ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
