48360 BJ. c. Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BY7/H. 17.12.25. ALL-METAL COVERS FOR REAR BRAKE COUNTERSHAFTS. I note that Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} has sent round a Standardization Sheet to be signed, standardizing the above pieces, in place of the present leather covers. The cost of the leather covers we have in stock is:- 12/6d per set. (300 sets in stock, possibly 200 more, but we are trying to stop the latter). I am of the opinion that we should immediately order material for the all-metal form of cover and bring it into use immediately the parts become available. Existing leather covers could be handed over to the Repair Dept. for use on Silver Ghost chassis with the old type cut-out, the trouble of burning away the covers being confined to New PhantomCodename for PHANTOM I cars, where the cut-out runs centrally through the silencer and blows almost directly on to the back axle.
