The water loss from the engine was found to be due to a leak which had become worse, from the gland where it enters the cylinder block.

OIL.
No oil was lost from the rear of the engine during the day's run. This was with the scoop fitted to the clutch case. It apparently is necessary to make this job as near 100% as possible to have an efficient breather, and a definite clutch case pressure. This being obtained as shown by my previous sketch.

CLUTCH.
We have today dismantled the clutch and relined it with the RAD.13 material. We have made as good a job of it as is possible with tools to hand.

The reason that the transmission noise has again developed, is because the rubbers had collapsed. They had become free in the partitions sideways and endways. We could feel this slackness before we disturbed the plates. There was no sign of sticking as we thought had occurred as previously, but this was apparently prevented by our fitting the rubbers up with French chalk. We have fitted a fresh set of rubbers, but have not cut the slots in, as we are of the opinion that this is partially the reason of the collapsing. We have enlarged the centre hole to practically 7/16" diameter. The rubbers are a good fit therefore we shall know whether they again collapse.
