re: CHASSIS B.5.AE - Mr. MAME

With reference to our Sr/VA4/ET.30.5.38 and the conversation which we had with you to-day concerning the above customer and the condition of the main bearings which we removed from the engine after the failure of n°. 3 big-end bearing and the connection rod. We attach a photograph of the white metal main bearings which clearly shows their condition.

These bearings were fitted to the engine in September 1936 and have covered 18.750 miles, a set of new connecting rods with Hall's metal big-ends were also fitted to the engine in September 1936.

As mentioned to you, we have sent to 'C' a photo of the bearings.
