contd :- -2- S E C R E T. approval of the springs as soon as possible. The car is 48-PK - the Cabriolet which you have already tested and approved of with the recently condemned 12-1/2% springs. We should like the Sales opinion on the springing as soon as possible because the experience so far is that we have had a completed standardisation sheet signed by both the Admin- istration and the Engineers for the 25% springs, which, after further tests, were turned down by Sales. We have also had springs which have been approved by Sales - rejected by the Engineers. Therefore, it is important that we should start the tests on the latest springs with the approval from both sides. Apart from 9-PK car which is in France, we propose sending out 98-NK to France fitted with these springs. Apart, however, from spring tests on 98-NK - this car will be fitted with different radiators and bonnets so that tests can be carried out in parallel with over-heating. In about a weeks time, we should have sufficient results from the bumping tests to give us a very good idea of what life we should expect from the springs. The springs which will be run in France will be the 20% stiffer than standard which is according to R's instruct- ions for cars which are to be run abroad. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
