-2- Monikrome Camshaft. Present Wraith Camshaft is produced from S/ZN bar, but as an alternative "Monikrome" iron casting could be used as proposed in Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}7/JH.16.6.38. Castings in this material can be produced in R.R.Foundry and would provide a reduction in Factory Cost of 12/10d per chassis. Coined Connecting Rods. Adoption of Coined Connecting Rods enables machining of channel portion to be eliminated with consequent cost reduction, since forgings finished by this process are of accurate dimensions and weight. A reduction in Factory Cost of £2. 2. 6d. per chassis is anticipated by adopting this type of rod. Steering Box Mounting. Wraith Steering Column is at present mounted on frame by means of a bracket carrying a tube on to which the box is clamped. In the case of B.III, however, a simple bracket is used which mounts Steering box direct to the frame (SCD.476). It is proposed that this system be also adopted on Wraith, thus providing a saving of 31/9d per chassis. Total Saving per chassis £11. 19. 7d. RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} | ||
