re. Isolation of Bodywork from Chassis.

We have recently been dealing with a 20-HP chassis belonging to an important customer, W. Duncan Tucker Esq., who has complained of chassis vibrations.

We have done all possible with the chassis ( our efforts in this direction will be known to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} our work in this connection having been carried out in conjunction with him), and asked Sales Department to arrange with the Coachbuilders, Messrs. Salmons, Newport Pagnell, to do all that was possible with the body work, as far as isolation scheme was concerned, with a view to making a satisfactory complete car.

It would appear from the reply we have received from HO. that it is not possible to do much in this direction with 20-HP chassis, apart from carrying out flexible attachment of the scuttle to the dash board as shown on our 20-HP chassis drawings.

I would refer you to my note on the standardisation sheet recently completed for isolation of scuttle from the dashboard of 40/50 chassis. as under:-

"Agreed for 40/50 and 20-HP. Coachbuilders should also be instructed to carry out retrospectively in case of complaint harshness or boom. Scuttles themselves should also be damped."

I shall be glad to know what is the present position in regard to this matter. I am of the opinion that something should be done in this direction for the 20-HP car as soon as ever possible.
