Tests at Derby have shewn that a depression exists inside the spigot immediately in front of the oil seal. A modification to deal with this is being tried on 8.B.V. (c) From rear cover studs, which hold high rear torque member. This is a mock up, but the trouble should be watched on the final scheme. (8) Breakage of flexible drive springs in clutch centre plate. The clutch is standard production, so the fault is at present regarded as an isolated case. (9) Oil leaks on to rear brakes past oil seals in hubs. A modification has already been carried out to oil catcher, this does not appear to be a proper cure. The trouble is receiving experimental investigation on 9.B.V. A high melting point grease is required for the Girling expanders. (10) Further failure of rubber connections on petrol tank vent pipe. This has been taken up with the rubber manufacturers.
