SECRET. To Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} from Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} c. to By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Hn.{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders} Pm/PD. Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/JD.{J. Draper - Frames} BY/RD. Report on Visit to Park Ward & Co. 1021 --------------------------------------- Wraith III Bodies. All of the Wraith III bodies are progressing to schedule. The new experimental body for 29-G-VI. and the first two production bodies will have the original wheelarches, and the outer edges of the rear wings brought down about 1.250 inches to hide the ugly gap between the wheel and wing. All four subsequent production bodies will have the lowered wheelarch. Bentley III Body - 1.B.5. The body is now being framed, and will soon go to panelling. The second body jig is well in hand. General Discussion (Hn.{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders} present). (1) Bentley Wheelarches - 6.5 x 17 tyres. It was agreed that we shew a revised shape of arch on the Chassis Print, giving the required extra clearance for the tyre at a point where it is necessary, by a depression in the present wheelarch, where it will not effect the cushion width. A scheme is required. There should be a note on the Chassis Print to the effect that nothing on the body supports or the body should overhang the two body brackets in the wheelarch. (2) Instrument Board - Bentley. A preliminary scheme of the new instrument board with centre speedometer was discussed and it was agreed that the arrangement would just work with a wooden board. It was stated that the column is often placed in the uppermost position. An advance print of the new board should be sent to Hn.{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders} as soon as it is available. In future a metal faced wooden board will receive consideration for the standard Saloon. Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} | ||
