your opinion of its commercial importance and I woud also appreciate anything that you might feel justified in doing to cause them to consider my application favorably. I realize that you do not know me at all; but you do know, thru Mr. Olley, that I exist, that I represent a thoroly reliable corporation and have done so since its first inception, and, perhaps, that I seem to be all right. This is so much more than the firm of Frank Smith & Company of Elland, Yorkshire know of me that it might help a lot if you just let them know that these are the facts as you know them. Please do not misunderstand me. I am not suggesting a commendation in any way. I merely say that I woud appreciate your telling Messrs. Smith that I am associated with good connections in the automobile trade here and that I represent an important development in the industry, so that they will think it worth while to consider me and look me up properly. As a matter of fact, Automotive Research Corporation is half owned by Borg-Warner Corporation, one of the very largest automotive parts manufacturing group corporations in the United States, and, I presume, in the world. The fact that I am in charge of the active business of Automotive Research Corporation, as the choice of Borg-Warner Corporation, shoud mean something to anyone interested in securing a representative, I think. Incidentally, I can refer to Mr. C. S. Davis of Borg-Warner Corporation if that may be desirable and if the matter is of sufficient merit to warrant doing so. Mr. Davis is president of the corporation and can be reached in its care at 310 South Michigan Avenue, Chicago. I am always looking for really meritorious developments to market here in the United States and particularly devices to be made under license from the patent owners, since I am most familiar with that sort of business and have manufacturing connections that can make almost anything worth making. This is the reason that I cabled Messrs. Frank Smith & Company, Elland, Yorkshire in the hope that their air cleaner and silencer woud meet my requirements and that they have U. S. Patents to cover it. It looks interesting and there is a great deal of interest in such devices here right now. Whatever you care to do, I will appreciate; but I will not at all mind your doing just nothing at all if you prefer that action - or lack of action, in view of your less than slight direct knowledge concerning me. Be sure that I am asking nothing in exchange for whatever I can do for you in the internal gearing transmission affair, either now or hereafter. Hoping that you receive the Chrysler C. D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} transmission, of which please do not reveal or discuss the make with anyone, which I am re-shipping with full sets of the blue prints of both the C. D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} and the larger C. G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} job (385 cu. in., 125 hp at 3200 rpm) enclosed in the same case, by American Railway Express, adrest as is this letter, in good condition, I am, Sincerely, J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} W. Pearson. | ||
