Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}8/H 15.11.24. re. 40/50 "U" Series Petrol Tank Filter. We do not consider the above is at present satisfactory. The drawing allows a clearance of .020" between the gauze flange and the central tube, and we are at present in trouble with foreign matter getting into the carburetter. The matter has been brought to Mr. Gough's attention by Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} and we shall be glad to hear from you what action you propose taking in regard to this matter as far as dealing with future and present productions are concerned, and if you consider advisable, "U" series cars retrospectively.
