some tests to see how far the throttle springs can be weakened without impairing satisfactory operation of the throttle.

6) The float balance to the resonance chamber in the air intake appeared to be working satisfactorily as far as could be ascertained under present air temperature conditions, but it should be appreciated that the trouble normally is most serious in hot weather, however, it is the only thing we know and it is proposed to standardise it, together with gauze over the communicating holes between the resonance chamber and the air intakes to prevent any possibility of a back fire firing off the mixture in the resonance chamber. The effect of the gauze on the acoustic properties of the resonance chamber was to be tested by Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}
