RADIATOR FOR CHASSIS B.27.LE.

We understand that the bonnet and radiator cowl for the above chassis will be such that a radiator with top tank approx. 2 1/2" - 3" lower will be needed and further that it is desired to mount the wings centrally together with the radiator. As we have no details of what is required we have fitted a radiator without shell and shutters which is 6" shorter than the standard radiator, and which we happen to have by us. This will permit the radiator to be mounted so that the top tank is 3" lower than standard and at the same time will leave room for a yoke (supporting the wings and radiator) to pass under the bottom tank and permit entry of the starting handle below the bottom tank. Attached drawing SCD.506 indicates the way in which we think this system could be rigged up. The wing stays and shell could be attached to the steel yoke surrounding the matrix unit - this yoke being provided for this purpose.

The radiator top tank has been fitted with a suitable top water pipe and the radiator itself is temporarily mounted on stilts which locate it in the final position.

It rather looks as if the air silencer will need modification to avoid fouling the bonnet. We have, however, left these alterations to you.
