We have a number of features on which we know exactly what we want if we could get somebody to draw for us. In most cases we have actually made a mock-up of the parts in question and have proved that they work. The features are as follows :-

PHANTOM.

(1) Petrol pump and filter combined fitted to the steering column. We have a petrol pump integral with the filler arranged on the streamlined car. The object of putting it on the Phantom is to get rid of vapour lock. At present we cannot use the electrical petrol pump, the result is we cannot use the balancing cam on the camshaft. With the pump on the steering column we propose to eliminate the petrol tap and have the red warning light for the reserve which you suggested. This will get rid of all the pipes up and down the dashboard.

(2) We have already asked you for a filter for the silent tappets on the Phantom.

(3) Lighter exhaust valve. We understand you are working on this.

(4) Silencer mounting. We want a more flexible exhaust mounting to go with the Terraplane engine rubbers.

BENTLEY.

(1) Halford silent tappets.

(2) Oil feed for Halford silent tappets incorporating filter.

(3) Terraplane engine mounting.

(4) Textolite timing gears, incorporating the balancing cam and the fabric water pump pinion.
