1254 YOUR REF ASR/CWR. September 7th 1937 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Mths.{Reg Matthews}10/AP. Messrs Specialloid Ltd., Friern Park, North Finchley, LONDON N.12. For the attention of Mr.A.S.Robinson Dear Sirs, With reference to your letter of the 3rd. inst., we are sorry that you are in doubt as to actual cylinder size for 4 1/4 litre Bentley, the drawing we sent shows the main dimensions of the Piston with the exception of the final grinding dimensions which are shown on separate drawing, the actual bore size is 3.500 and the machining limit plus .001. The gudgeon pin is fully floating and on Bentley chassis is fitted push fit by hand with piston cold, we attach herewith drawing of our Gudgeon pin E.60634 and ask you to note that we normally fit aluminium end pads, in your case, however, we leave that to you to decide on whether you adopt 'Circlips' or not. The piston drawing sent to you is actually our 25/30. HP. drawing, the reason being that we could not get hold of the Bentley tracing as it was being used at the time, the piston however is interchangeable with Bentley piston, so that you can go ahead without fear of any snags. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCELTD. | ||
