X.1357. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1/LG24.1.22. Referring to the attached suggestion, it is quite a practicable idea but has many limitations. It is not sufficient to depend on the side lamps for providing the light to work on the engine also this light would not help one at all when it came to changing a wheel or examining any other part of the chassis. There is designed for the Goshawk an inspection lamp connection and with each car there should be an inspection lamp with a flexible lead so that there will be no difficulty in inspecting any part of the engine or chassis in the dark. The scheme of twisting the side lamps round to illumine the engine has been used by other firms. We believe it is a standard fitting on the Citroen Car.
