Re Chassis ? - Pedraza.

With reference to your telephone call of this morning, we are not sure what you want us to say regarding these lights, as the remarks contained in D/Snl/P3.2.22 still stand. If the owner desires that each headlamp be of 125 c.p., then we suggest that bulbs each of 100 c.p. be fitted as being the nearest.

Such bulbs would correspond to No.46 in the C.A.V. list, and each bulb would take 4 amperes at 12 volts, so that the consumption of the head lamps alone would be 8 amperes, and as we assume that the owner wants these lamps for considerable use, it would most certainly be desirable to fit the larger Lucas dynamo A.400. If, on the other hand, the owner means that the combined c.p. of the head-lights shall be 125, we would suggest that bulbs of 75 c.p. be fitted, giving a total of 150, and taking together 6 amperes. If these lamps be fitted, and provided the head lamps are not used more than ordinarily, then we should say that the larger dynamo and battery is not necessary. Again, in the first case, it would be more necessary to have a larger dynamo than larger battery because if more current is consumed, more current must be generated, but it does not necessarily follow that more current must be stored. It would, however, be desirable.(and particularly so unless the owner is a man who would take particular care not to overcharge a small battery in the day-time with the larger generator).
