(5) Rockers with W/M bushes.

This unit to be tested in normal manner with view to ultimately being fitted in a chassis.

The following special tests to be included:-

(1) Heat flow to oil in manner as carried out on C.17 unit obtaining, oil flow through bearings, total flow, total heat and heat generated by bearings.

(2) Expansion of exhaust valves open exhaust and with std. silencer, also temperature with optical pyrometer

As previous programme obtain valve for opened oil throttle body and modified hot spot with Continental heads.

Comparison should be made with open exhaust and silencer.

When complete try camshaft (EX.26118) with the best induction arrangement.

The above OHC conversion unit to be fitted on bed following PH.III endurance.

Tests to proceed with view to obtaining maximum information in order to instruct for new camshaft that will give maximum power with exhaust system.

Try by juggling with timing and tappet clearance, also with smaller exhaust valves and corresponding inserts.

Existing valve lifts necessitates excessive valve spring loadings.
