1269 Experimental Dept. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Ed.{J. L. Edwards}10/MH.{M. Huckerby} 22nd. May, 1939. The Manganese Bronze & Brass Co. Ltd., Handford works, Ipswich, SUFFOLK. Your Ref: LGP/JB. For the attention of Mr. L.G.Palmer. Dear Sirs, Sometime ago we obtained from you some Oilite thrust washers for experimental purposes, to our drawing EXS.1020. We have tried these out on our water pump SCD.865, drawing enclosed, and we are returning herewith a washer which has worn badly, after comparatively little running. We should be very glad if you would investigate this job, and let us know whether you can suggest any remedy for the wear. We are also experiencing trouble due to the locking pin failure, and should be glad if you could enlarge the hole to .080" and send us 4 washers with any other modifications you can suggest to alleviate the wear. An official order will follow as soon as we hear from you. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
