A letter packet from...................................................... addressed to you has been detained by the Postal Authorities under the provisions of Section 18 of the Post Office Act, 1908, for Customs examination and is now in Customs charge at this Depot.

It is not necessary for you to attend the examination, and, unless you wish to have the packet opened in your presence, you should delete (2) and (3) on the slip below and return it at once. The packet will then be dealt with without delay. If, however, you wish to attend the examination you must either

† (1) attend at this Office (hours of attendance 9 a.m. to 4-30 p.m., Monday to Friday, and 9 a.m. to 12-30 p.m. Saturday), or

(2) apply for the packet to be sent to a Customs and Excise general office for this purpose. The address of the nearest convenient general office can be ascertained at a Post Office.

If no reply is received within four days, the packet will be opened and examined in your absence.
