Dear Leslie,

It occurs to me that I never wrote to you regarding the architect's job at Crewe which you asked me to enquire about on your brother's behalf.

I went over there the next day and found that the position had already been filled.

In any case I doubt whether it was the right sort of job for your brother as it seemed to be more a "Clerk of the Works" job than architectural and the man who took it has to work for £300 a year.

I apologize for not having let you know before. Though I did not forget the job I did forget to pass the information on to you, and I am sorry to have kept you in suspense.

Yours sincerely,
