x719 Exptl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}4/KW. 19th October, 1934. Mr. Longley, Messrs. Ferodo Limited, Chapel-en-le-Frith. Dear Mr. Longley, We want to fit some thin friction strips between the leaves of our leaf springs in order to get some dry friction at this point. The width of the material required is 2 1/4". We believe you make this in long rolls, and should be glad if you would send us about 24 feet of whatever material you recommend. From our point of view the thinner the material, the better. We note you are sending some of the new B.Z. linings to try on our next 10,000 miles test and we hope that these will not be affected by high temperatures. We will let you know shortly the results of the tests on the several servo linings you have recently sent us. We have only tried one or two up to date, but should be able to give you all the results in about a fortnight. Yours sincerely, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
