Dear Mr Grylls, Confirming our telephone conversation with you yesterday, we are putting in hand a set of B.Z. (amended) liners for your further trials on the Bentley foot brake. This is just to put on record that the object behind this is to endeavour to supply you with a lining whose "μ" is not high on the virgin surface, and which as a result of repeated raising to high temperatures does not become high when subsequently applied cold. We check your observations on this point and must confess that although this characteristic is known to us we have not been able to give the matter the consideration it deserves. However, it is probable that you will find B.Z. well satisfying to your requirements in this respect, and the samples will be sent to you in the course of the next three days.
