this type for the purpose in view ?

With reference again to the bearing in front of the pinion, for new construction, where we are not limited as to diameter, we still have it in mind that the most satisfactory bearing from all points of view might prove to be a simple two row type, comprising two A.C. type bearings with no relief to either outer race, so that the bearing furthest from the pinion takes both thrust and journal load. Would you be so good as to give us your recommendations for a bearing of this type as small in outside diameter as possible, and capable of taking a top gear load at 2000 R.P.M. of 1300 lbs. radial load and 2,460 lbs. thrust with the same margin of capacity as the thrust races of the bearing to your drawing No. 41-477, Section 74, would have, when taking 2,460 lbs. thrust load.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
