We are carrying out some tests on axle noise on the above chassis and this memo is to confirm that we have asked you to do the following work in the order shown below. 1. Grind 0.002 off grooved face of pinion bearing thrust race and fit nip washer 0.002 greater than free gap. 2. Remove bearing from housing, measure preload, grind further 0.002 off same face and increase nip to 0.004. 3. Grind further 0.002 off race and increase nip to 0.006.
