GMU-10 BARON DE REUTER.

With reference to Hm{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs}3/DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}6.1.33.

We note your observations about this car.
We cannot hold out any hope of improvement in exhaust booms round about 60 m.p.h. by fitting one of the latest type silencers. As a matter of fact, we think you will find that it is not an exhaust boom but is produced by a resonant body. Two or three of our expl. cars have started life with booms of this nature, but after being driven hard over bad roads, the booms have completely disappeared in a short time.

The one from 25 - 35 m.p.h. may be attributed to the exhaust system, and we suggest that you obtain another silencer of the new type so that you can try and see if it makes any improvement. We are afraid that we have no spare silencers here, and we are so completely snowed under with our expl. programme that we are not in a position to make you one.

We should like to point out that the only difference in the new exhaust system is in the main silencer, the downtake and front expansion box remaining the same.
