Dear Sirs, BEVEL PINION BEARINGS WAKEFIELD HI-PRESS OIL With reference to the above, we would confirm having handed to you yesterday during Mr. Hickling's visit the test bearing which had run for 344 hours using this lubricant at 4500 r.p.m. under 1420-lbs. journal load and 1050 thrust load. You will note that the bearing is in good condition and no cage wear has developed, and while there is a certain amount of building up of deposit, there is still a good quantity of oil present. In general this oil appears to be in every way equal to Whitmore for this duty, although of course our test does not provide any proof of its serviceability on your gears, this being a point which we presume you yourselves will test. We would point out that while this test has been run as a comparison against Whitmore, it has been run at 4,500 r.p.m., whereas the Whitmore test was only run at 3000 r.p.m., and this point shows up this new lubricant to even better advantage.
