Examination report on faulty HP SU petrol pumps, listing faults against chassis and pump numbers.

H.P. SU. PETROL PUMPS. Herewith the result of an examination of 7 H.P. SU petrol pumps which were returned as faulty and two 25/30 H.P. type. Chassis. Pump No. Fault. 3.CM.51. G.51503 * Setting wrong. 3.AX.67 G.51710 * Setting wrong also water in front unit. 3.DL.18. G.52090 * Pot .018" oversize causing armature to foul. WXA.108 179A * Lead wire to toggle pulled tight and holding toggle. 339A * Setting very bad. G51529 Broken contact platform. 3.CM.117 G51840 Points burst. In each case which is marked with an asterisk the trouble is directly due to bad assembly. In 3 of these cases the setting was wrong and in one case on Pump 179A the lead wire to the toggle had been pulled tight when the screw holding the platform was tightened down. This pump was found in this state when drawn from stock and cannot have been tested or else tightened up after testing. The other serious case concerns pump G52090 in which the diameter of the roller race was .018" oversize where the limit is held to .001". This pot was made by R.R. and bears an inspectors stamp and the matter has been taken up with the | ||
