LOVEJOY MANUFACTURING COMPANY
Makers of
LOVEJOY HYDRAULIC SHOCK ABSORBERS

39 BRIGHTON AVENUE
BOSTON, MASS.
July 23, 1925.

Mr. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} V.{VIENNA} Hives,
Chief Experimental Eng.,
Rolls Royce, Limited,
Derby, England.

Our shipping department are forwarding two complete sets of Lovejoy Hydraulic Shock Absorbers. These are packed in a single box with partition between, with fittings used in making a Lovejoy installation on a Rolls Royce car at the Springfield factory of the American Company.

The bodies of the front instruments are cast of gray iron, while the bodies of the rear are cast aluminum.

While we have a few aluminum instruments giving satisfactory service, it has been our experience that cast iron is far superior to aluminum for our use and we find that the extra weight of this metal over aluminum has not found objection with the American concerns who are using them as standard equipment, among which are the American Rolls Royce Inc., Locomobile, Marmon and Mack International on all of their deluxe type passenger carrying and street car type busses.

We are sending you the instruments cast of two different metals that you may observe and experiment with their action, also that you may make a fair comparison between the two.

I am looking forward with much pleasure to a trip to Europe and intend sailing August 27th. I am bringing with me a letter of introduction from my friend Mr. Maurice Olley and trust you will find it convenient to give a few moments of your valuable time during my visit to your factory.

Very truly yours,
LOVEJOY MANUFACTURING COMPANY
Geo. A.{Mr Adams} Crittenden,
General Sales Manager.
