To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} re Rear End of "SS{S. Smith}" Chassis. Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}1/E12.2.29

X.

Referring to Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}5/M15.1.29 I should be glad if you would kindly let me know how this matter now stands.

I should like to discuss this particular point with you before you go to Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence as it is a point which we are anxious to get straightened out, and I should like to make sure that you appreciate our views on the subject before seeing R.{Sir Henry Royce}

Another point that I should like to discuss with you before you go is the question of the electric windscreen wipers, as I do feel very strongly, and I am sure you must agree, that it would be a great pity if we had to recommend and adopt a German made article.

I have seen a recent memo. from R.{Sir Henry Royce} in which he also refers to the Lucas one, and I am very keen that we should strain every effort to get the Lucas one made satisfactorily for us if at present it is not good enough, and I believe I can do this if as suggested in my Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}1/M22.1.29 I were to take the matter up with Mr.Oliver Lucas, but I do not want to do so until I have a report about the present one.
