2. We are refraining from sending our official quotation through to your Buying Department until we hear from you that either of the sample Jacks is approved, but we would mention that the one with the Fishtail' handle will cost approximately 3/0d less than the one with the socket type handle, such as you have previously fitted. The only modification suggested by you which we have not been able to incorporate is the question of machine cut bevel and pinion, the reason being that the particular pinion incorporated in these Jacks cannot be cut, and to supply cut wheels would mean completely re-designing the body to take a different form of pinion, this would add considerably to the cost in view of the comparatively small quantities required. It is felt, however, that the incorporation of the thrust race adds so much to the easy working of the Jack under load that the machine cut wheels can be dispensed with. The writer will be pleased to call on you to discuss the matter further when you have had an opportunity of carrying out your tests. Yours faithfully, FOR DUNLOP RUBBER CO.LTD., (Sgd) F.R.Carr.
