Shock Damper Valve Block, Front Suspension - Wraith II. -------------------------------------------------- The Expl. Dept. have reported to us that in making the front shock damper valve block of the front suspension the drilling for the diagonal oil passages has broken out into the cavity for the replenishment valve plugs. On N.Sch.4855 we set out the clearances between these drillings as shown in section AA. {D. Abbot Anderson} Whilst we admit that perhaps these clearances are a little too fine to be completely practicable, we suggest that had the scheme not have been slightly modified in a number of ways during the detailing, the trouble would not have occurred. The counter bore for the valve plug has been made 25 thou. deeper The diagonal hole adjacent to the counter bore has been increased from .161" to .167" diameter, and the angle of that particular drilling increased from 25° to 31°. We have agreed to the proposals by BY {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} /TWD. {T. W. D???Aeith} for using up the five partially machined valve blocks already in existence. In order to make sure that very liberal clearances are provided on future parts we send herewith N.Sch.4990 on which the following modifications have been incorporated. (1) Depth of counter bore for valve plug maintained as on N.Sch.4855, and the diameter of the counter bore reduced to .625". (2) Diameter of bore for valve reduced to .325" and the Tapping for the plug .375". (3) Angle of diagonal drilling to be 25° from the vertical on both sides. (4) The diameter of the hole for the diagonal drilling to .161" diameter on the side of valve plug counter bore and to .187" on the opposite side. Att: N.Sch.4990. EV. {Ivan Evernden - coachwork} | ||
