From the investigations into the trouble with carburetters flooding, we have gained sufficient evidence that the trouble is due to the body of the filter situated on the engine being made in aluminium, and the chamber plug when being fitted turning off the thread fine pieces of aluminium. This means that after the filter and carburetter has been cleaned, the replacing of the filter chamber plug is the most probable cause of a recurrent failure. To overcome this, we are in future going to make the filter body in brass, and immediately instruct the filter gauze in 100 mesh. Will Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy} please instruct Depots that the filters of P.III be changed as they come in. The standard 25/30 E.60804 to be fitted.
