ACCIDENT ON HISPANO CAR.

I was proceeding to Cranwell on Saturday the 18th. June, driving the Hispano car. Between Sawlwy and Long Eaton it was raining hard. When proceeding towards Long Eaton I was on the point of over-taking a bus going in the same direction, when it pulled out and left me no room to pas. On the wet greasy road the front wheels locked and the car skidded head-on into a horse and cart standing on the right hand side of the road. Our speed was 15 m.p.h.

The damage to the Hispano car was two head XXX lamps broken, wing bent, and bonnet bent. The horse was badly cut on the nose and had to be attended to by a vet.

The driver of the cart had a bump on the back and the head, but he refused to see a Doctor.

The driver of the cart was - G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} Bowler, Corn Merchant, Old Sawley.
Witness: Herbert Hearn, 19 Recreation St.{Capt. P. R. Strong}, Long Eaton.

On the car with me were - Mr. Platford, Mr. Coverley, and Mr. Lovesey.

It was a particularly greasy piece of road as another car turned completely round just afterwards.
