86051 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.4/MA. 25th May, 1934. Messrs.A.T.Speedometer Co.Ltd., Chronos Works, North Circular Road, London, N.W.2. For the attention of Mr.H.R.Buckland. Dear Sir, I am sending you back for repair the Bentley Speedometer type No.H.753 which has given trouble due to the total mileage recorder not functioning correctly. Upon examination the total mileage recorder was found to have worked loose and in consequence the worm drive pinion and wheel had worn very badly. This speedometer belongs to a special car which in consequence of the speedometer failure will have to be driven to London without a speedometer. We should be glad therefore if you could very quickly repair this speedometer and then get into touch with Mr.Lappin at our Conduit Street Office London, in order that he can drive the car along to have the speedometer refitted at your Works. I assume there will be no difficulty about the speedometer being refitted at Chronos Works to the car. In anticipation of the fact that you will be able to do this for us we are telling Mr.Lappin to be ready to take the car along to you early next week. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
