(7) re. CRITICISMS OF C.S.C. ON DIPPING HEAD LIGHTS. X4535

EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} remarked that the sagging wire complained of should not have existed as there should be on the dash a small spring taking up any slack after the lamps have reached their stop. This would account probably for the small amount of dip obtained which we consider to be very inadequate. HO. will inform us of the angle of dip used by Barkers and we shall provide the same.

With reference to the coil spring encompassing the countershaft this was considered the neatest spring we could provide under the circumstances, it being appreciated that the spring must be up against the stop for the lamps. It was thought that the tubular fork supporting the lamp was rather too small and thin, and we suggest that Derby increase the size of this tube. The C.S.C. would like to see these lamps after these modifications have been made and we think that prior to the car being shewn to them we should see it at WW.

(8) SCUTTLE ISOLATION - 20.HP. X4613

It was agreed that the scheme used on 5.G.11. (FHR. all-weather) should be carried on with for immediate use and that a Standardisation sheet should be immediately put into circulation. We would point out that this system has been actually in use for many months and has proved very satisfactory in preventing various engine and other vibrations reaching the body. We think that the present isolation shewn on the coachbuilders print should be washed out and nothing substituted in its place on the print, but that a separate small sketch of the new isolation scheme should be provided. Since we have little or no time to make this ourselves we propose sending rough sketches to Derby for them to provide this drawing for you.

(9) SIDE WHEEL CARRIER. X4085

The head of the side wheel carrier turns round causing the wheel to foul the paintwork, and scratch it. We are surprised to hear this since the clamping bolt bites into the tube. However we suggest that a Woodruff key be inserted as in the sketch below. Would Derby please do this?
