SECRET 1030 TO. Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} from Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} c. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Grys Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}1/22.11.39 704 RE MYTH COACHWORK Attached herewith is a print of PL.56. a 1/16th scale drawing of the 10 H.P. Rover Car made from dimensions taken from the car you loaned to us on Monday last. On PL.57. we show the same body applied to the Myth chassis. Attached herewith also is a print of our preliminary design PL.23. of a 4 light saloon for Myth, and PL.58 showing this design turned into a six light. The distance, bottom of steering wheel to the top of rear squab-board on our design and the Rover is 62 inches and 61 inches respectively and the bottom of the steering wheel to the front of rear cushion 30 inches in each case. Therefore the bodies are almost identical in interior useful length. The Rover front seats had to be placed farther from the steering wheel on Myth due to the formers pedals being at a much shorter distance from the steering wheel. The Myth has our standard dimensions common to B.V. Ripple etc. We get more knee room and leg room to the back seats for the same interior body length, which is an advantage. In plan, the Rover body is 3.500 narrower at the centre pillow than our design PL.23. which having no running boards demands a wide body. The overall width of the front wings is fixed by the front track and the body at the base XXXX has to be wide to prevent mud on the doors and rear wing. The Rover has running boards. In general this difference in plan width is the chief and real difference between the sizes of the two bodies. It will be noticed that both cars have almost identical wheelbases.
