Precis of previous report.

Six experimental magnetos of 6° increased range to 66° and still better low speed performance had been received and tested, the better low speed performance being the result of our explanation to Messrs. North of the better application of the fundamental principles of the magneto. The results of preliminary bench tests and chassis tests were generally very satisfactory, showing good improvement, an exception evident on the bench test being the slight inconsistency from machine to machine at high speeds in the fully advanced position. The machines were fitted with special ventilated contact breaker covers with a view to minimising the burning away of the platinum points, which Messrs. North maintained had been due to hydro carbon vapours. We were satisfied that the amount of contact breaker noise was not increased.

There is now further to report concerning these machines. The experimental testers have been very pleased with the operation of these machines on chassis, and in fact, we know of no complaint from them during the two or
