To test this a car with hydraulic front brakes should be fitted up with thermocouples to measure front and rear drum temperatures.
The car should then be run on the road with:-

(a) constant light pedal load, and
(b) constant heavy pedal load.

The temperature attained by the drums should give an indication of the proportion of braking.

Longley of Ferodo should be asked for his recommendations on linings of increased durability.

(6) The anti-rattle plates retaining the shoes should be tried in thinner gauge material, and either spot welded or rivetted to the back plate, whichever is the cheaper.

(7) The new hand brake which is not yet designed should have more ground clearance, in addition to Bowden cable operation of the ratchet.

(8) Chassis 2.B.50 is to be used for brake tests as far as possible.
If necessary it can be converted to hydraulic front brakes.
