c. to Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c. to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FD.{Frank Dodd - Bodies} 200B 30th. October 1937. DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}10/N. CONFIDENTIAL. 404 Messrs. Park Ward & Co. Ltd., 473, High Road, Willesden, London N.W.10. Dear Sirs, Re: Short Wheelbase Bentley 1-B-5. It has been decided to ask you to arrange that the above body shall be made to fit, if necessary, the revised frame section on FD.{Frank Dodd - Bodies}32 and RCD.139 herewith. The level top behind the dash is 1.500 lower and the body brackets are dropped accordingly. We can therefore insert aluminium packings of this amount. For this new frame the body bracket immediately in front of the rear axle is moved back, and we suggest that you provide this body with brackets in the wheelarch to suit either frame. The positions of the step brackets relative to the body and the road are unchanged. The frame at the dash is 2.000 wider approximately in the plan view, and it will be necessary to see that there is sufficient width between the bottom sides to accommodate this frame. We do not want you to alter your dummy chassis at this stage, but merely to set out the new frame, and the body bracket modification on the Full Size Drawing, and to arrange for the body to fit either chassis.
