27th June 1910 C.J. 27/6/10 RS{Sir Henry Royce's Secretary}/D27610 In studying the question of a possible new engine for ourselves, I notice that the Austrian Daimler which did so well in the Prince Henry Trophy, has a similar form of cylinder and arrangement of valves to that which you had on the old Pipe. This, of course, would be exceedingly impracticable for a commercial engine, - as I think all forms of overhead valve motion are. The relative bore of this Austrian Daimler is the same ratio (but a slightly larger cylinder) as the one I propose to try. F.H.R. [Left Margin] X/056 | ||
