Mr Royce 14-10-12. Re Cody's 120 h.p. six-cylinder Austro-Daimler Engine. TBB4/L141012. I send you herewith as requested when at Crowborough, particulars of the Austro-Daimler engine used by Cody in the British Military Aeroplane Trials. The description provided is rather poor as it gives no details of the valve mechanism, but from the photograph it is fairly clear that both valves are situated in the head and are operated by means of one tappet rod controlling a rocking lever. This of course entails a cam having one prominence and one depression, the tappet being pulled down into the depression by means of a spring. If this description is not sufficient no doubt a more detailed one could be obtained from one of the Aeroplane journals. [Handwritten in left margin]: X1032 | ||
