Dear Sirs,

We have been testing a set of your road springs on one of our chassis. At the end of the test the rear ends of the rear springs were rather dry.

From the labels on the springs we understand that these springs were originally packed with "RESILUBO", which oozed out of the sides of the springs during the test. No spring gaiters were fitted in this particular case so that we could examine the springs for fractures. We are now wondering if you rely on the turned down ends of the leaves to pick up lubricant from the gaiters. In which case we imagine the gaiters should be packed with "RESILUBO". If this is your intention will you please supply us with some "RESILUBO" for packing the gaiters.

We are also wondering if the turned down ends of the leaves will damage the gaiter and if you advise any special type of gaiter for use with these springs.

Although it is our experience that it is not possible to keep road springs correctly oiled for a number of years without using oil ducts from the bijur chassis lubrication, we should like to test your springs under the conditions for which they are designed.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
