We have tested a set of Woodhead low rating road springs on the 25HP. bumper chassis. Both front and rear springs have been bumped for 40 Hrs. There are certain differences in the specification of these springs compared to our standard Firth springs. The specification which is not common to both makes of springs is as follows:- Woodhead Springs. (i) Solid eyes for shackle pin. (ii) Part of the spring clips are in one piece with leaves of the spring. This avoids rivetting the spring clips to the leaves of the spring. Firths Springs. (i) Cadmium plating. (ii) Ground leaves. (iii) Bijur lubrication. During the period of bumping the Woodhead springs we did not have a single failure. This is good for low rating springs. Lubrication. Woodheads have a special lubricant "RESILUBO" which they apply initially and expect to be sufficient until the springs are dismantled. | ||
