1300 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}10/KW.26.3.35. SpectreCodename for Phantom III. The automatic tappets have not got a sufficiently definite supply of oil. The slot in the barrel is too long and does not allow for air escape in the oil. Controlled Dampers. The pipe line to the controlled dampers should not be broken by unnecessary joints. The two joints on SpectreCodename for Phantom III II on each side of the engine were leaking. To get at the joint on the N.S. it is necessary to dismantle the two exhaust pipes from the manifold to the rear silencer. Front Dampers. To bleed the front damper pipe lines is made very difficult owing to the position of the release screws. Oil is leaking from the studs holding the bellows chamber on the front dampers. We have noted after inspection of the rear of the chassis since carrying out our springing tests that the spring leaf clips have been hitting the underside of the frame, there not being sufficient clearance; also due to the nearside rear damper losing its poundage, the rocking over of the car on that side has caused the buffer to foul the bijur connection on the dust cover of the near side wheel and broken it off. A knock has developed in the offside front spring barrel, the impression being that play has developed between the lever and the spring pad. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/G.W.Hancock. | ||
